Bi-polarity is characterized by wild mood swings ranging from deep sadness and depression to euphoric and manic type behaviour.
What is euphoric type behaviour? It is a mental and emotional state or symptom of mood or affect that involves the experience of positive mood. Euphoric mood can be described as a sense of intense joy or happiness that is beyond what would be expected under the normal circumstances.
People experiencing euphoria may feel carefree, safe, and free of stress. This emotion can be either a normal reaction to happy events or a symptom of substance abuse and certain mental health conditions.
Natural euphoric moods can sometimes be produced by things such as aerobic exercise, sex, and love. Exercise also causes feelings of euphoria when the body depletes its glycogen stores and then releases endorphins.
Euphoria can be experienced by persons suffering from bipolar disorder in the manic phase, as well as in unipolar depression. It can also occur in other psychiatric disorders like cyclothymic personality disorder and in schizophrenia,
Euphoric mood
Depression commonly refers to a relatively transitory, negative mood experienced by human. The terms depression or depressed are used in both the ordinary, non-clinical sense and to refer specifically to pathology, especially when the mood of depression has reached a level of severity and/or duration that warrants a clinical diagnosis.
